EEOC Opens 2024 EEO-1 Reporting: What Employers Must File by June 24
May 28, 2025
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has officially opened the 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection. Covered employers must file their demographic workforce data by Tuesday, June 24, 2025—with no extensions planned.
Who Must File
Employers are required to submit a 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 report if they are:
- Private employers with 100 or more employees, or
- Federal contractors with 50 or more employees and at least one qualifying federal contract or subcontract.
These reports must include workforce data by job category, race/ethnicity, and sex.
Key Filing Details
- The Online Filing System (OFS) is available at www.eeocdata.org/eeo1
- All communications will be electronic—no postal mail reminders
- Employers must use the 2024 EEO-1 Instruction Booklet to ensure proper classification and reporting
Compliance Reminder
In a statement, EEOC Acting Chair Andrea Lucas emphasized that employers may not use demographic data reported in EEO-1 forms to justify employment decisions based on race or sex. “There is no ‘diversity’ exception to Title VII,” she noted.
What Employers Should Do Now
- Confirm whether your organization meets the filing threshold
- Review your employee demographic data and job categories
- File through the OFS portal before June 24, 2025
- Consult legal counsel if you have questions about reporting compliance or data usage limitations
