Why Attending Construction Industry Events Matter to Rebecca Nathanson
Rebecca Nathanson had a busy March 2026, keeping on top of the latest in innovation, design, risk and compliance for the construction industry. As part of her practice, Rebecca prioritizes being at the forefront of industry developments so she can deliver employment and labor law counsel that aligns with actual job site realities.
International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) – March 10
Early in the month, Rebecca attended the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) program entitled “Who Owns the Failure? Understanding Building Enclosure Risk Across the Project Team.” Drawing on real-world case studies, the discussion at this event highlighted how water intrusion and façade distress are typically the result of overlapping decisions—design intent, construction execution, product performance, insurance structure, and long-term ownership practices—rather than any one isolated misstep.
In the employment and labor arena, these risks often surface in less obvious ways: internal investigations following a failure, discipline or termination decisions tied to project performance, and the need to navigate competing narratives across project teams. Addressing those issues early can make a meaningful difference in both outcome and cost.
New York Build Expo – March 18-19
Rebecca and our firm’s Managing Partner, Mordy Book, attended this year’s New York Build Expo, the largest construction, design & real estate show for the tri-state area, held at the Javits Center on March 18 & 19. The hottest topic? AI of course! Multiple panels discussed how AI is transforming the industry, from project planning and design to workforce management and jobsite execution. Mordy & Rebecca enjoyed catching up with clients and networking with industry colleagues.
Queens & Bronx Building Association (QBBA) – March 25
Rebecca was excited to return for QBBA’s & IIBEC’s 2nd annual event, “The Queens of Construction – Honoring the Women Leading the Way in Design and Construction” for an evening of industry connection, collaboration, and celebration.
