Mordechai “Mordy” Book
Managing Partner
I enjoy the practical, problem-solving “people” side of practicing law, working directly with those on the front lines to help them navigate risk, manage their teams, and move forward with clarity. Consistent with my background in Corporate Law as well as my experience as a business owner and employer, Employment Law gives me the opportunity to advise on real-world issues that affect how businesses operate day to day, while still keeping an eye on the bigger picture, which is ultimately to keep focus on successful operations and profits. I’m especially drawn to helping organizations stay aligned with their values while meeting their legal obligations, something I know firsthand is critical for long-term success.
I’ve been practicing law for nearly 30 years, including twenty years as a General Counsel for companies small and huge, and as a solo practitioner, and now as Managing Partner of Book Law LLP, which I co-founded with my brother Chaim in January 2023. My background includes representing employers of all sizes, advising HR teams, and serving as in-house counsel across technology, finance, and real estate sectors. I bring broad experience in operations, transactions, and compliance, and focus on providing outside general counsel services that are both strategic and practical, with a knack for creative solutions.
Prior to founding Book Law, I practiced corporate and transactional law and closed more than $4 billion in deals, including complex and sophisticated joint ventures, real estate financings (construction loans, mezzanine, preferred equity), and other commercial transactions.
When I’m not working, I like to relax with family and friends. My wife and two sons are all superstars in their own right, and there’s always so much to experience with them, whether we’re traveling, watching movies, or enjoying sports together.
