NYC Amended Laws Affecting Delivery Workers Go into Effect January 26
Amended laws affecting pay and benefits for New York City delivery workers go into effect on January 26, 2026. Last week, NYC warned scores of delivery app companies to comply with their obligations under the amended laws. We previously discussed the laws here.
NYC has also filed suit against at least one app company for allegedly not complying with existing minimum pay laws for delivery workers.
Delivery app companies should note that, in addition to complying with the amended laws, they must display, text, and email, by January 26, NYC’s new Notice of Rights for delivery workers. There are three versions of the Notice, drafted for three types of delivery workers. NYC intends to publish copies of the Notices in multiple languages. For now, they are available in English here.
