Book Law Presented Hot Topics in Employment Law at Annual Conference

What were the top legal issues that concerned non-profit organizations and private day schools in 2025? Employee social media use, artificial intelligence in the employment process, and new laws on employee leaves and accommodations were high on the list.

Senior Partner Chaim Book and Partner Sheryl Galler spoke about these topics and more at the Torah Educators Network 8th EDS National Conference, which was held in Tampa, Florida in early December 2025.

During their first presentation, Chaim and Sheryl described real-world scenarios involving employees’ social media posts that are contrary to their employers’ values and mission, or that cross the line into online harassment or discrimination, and employees who participate in online parent chat groups. They explained federal and New York laws applicable to such off-duty conduct. They also shared practical ways to help avoid problems and advice on how to manage crises when they arise. After a lively round of questions, Chaim and Sheryl listed ways that employers and employees are using AI in the hiring process, concerns over bias and manipulation, and attempts to address those concerns through new and expanded regulations.

The following day, our partners hosted roundtable meetings, where they gave multiple groups a quick overview of federal, New York State, and New Jersey leaves and benefits available for pregnant employees and new parents.

Chaim and Sheryl invited their audience members to reach out to discuss how the Firm can help them comply with federal and state employment laws, draft policies, handbooks, offer letters and agreements, and meet their employment law needs. They can be reached at cbook@booklawllp.com, sgaller@booklawllp.com or at (212) 244-0344.
